Emmy Rossum got started with a string of television movies starting out in 1996 with Grace & Glorie then following up with Only Love (1998), Genius (1999) and The Audrey Hepburn Story (2000). Her film career grew beyond tv with a string of movies: Songcatcher, It Had to Be You, An American Rhapsody, Happy Now, Passionada, Nola, Mystic River, The Day After Tomorrow, The Phantom of the Opera, Poseidon, Dragonball: Evolution, Dare and Born to Die. During her film career she found time to work on television series including an episode of Law & Order, the mini series A Will of Their Own, a couple episodes in Snoops and some spots in the soap opera As the World Turns and finally The Practice and Shameless. In 2007 Emmy released her debut album, Inside Out and followed that up with a Christmas album named Carol of the Bells.
